Game of Attrition CD

Game of Attrition: Arlene Sierra, Vol. 2, is Sierra's orchestral portrait disc, released by Bridge Records to international critical acclaim.

Arlene Sierra's music will have a BBC Proms broadcast on 9 August 2020.

The trio of Nicola Benedetti, Leonard Elschenbroich and Alexie Grynyuk perform Sierra's acclaimed Butterflies Remember a Mountain along with the Brahms Piano Trio No. 1. This stellar trio of international soloists have championed Sierra's work, performing it in numerous prestigious venues including the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Frankfurt Alte Oper, and Cheltenham Town Hall since giving the world premiere of the work in Bremen in 2013. It was commissioned by the Bremen Philharmonic Society at the behest of Artist-in-Residence Leonard Elschenbroich.

The BBC Proms programme introduction reads, "Here the three musicians pair Brahms’s first and stormiest piano trio – its darkness belying the work’s major key – with music by American-born composer Arlene Sierra. Inspired by the migration patterns of butterflies, her Butterflies Remember a Mountain is a work of pointillist detail and shimmering harmonies, painted in a sequence of delicate textural gestures."
