Arlene Sierra has been named Composer-in-Association with the Utah Symphony, via their February 2020 press release.
January 2020 saw the first performances of Arlene Sierra's music by the Utah Symphony, when her orchestral showpiece Moler was performed twice to critical acclaim. In the 2020-2021 season the Utah Symphony will perform three more works by Arlene Sierra, two U.S. premieres - Aquilo, and Nature Symphony - and a world premiere, Arlene Sierra's much anticipated Bird Symphony, conducted by Music Director Thierry Fischer.
Additionally Prof. Sierra will take part in educational projects with schools and universities in the Salt Lake City area, and engage in a variety of talks and events with Utah Symphony audiences.
In their season publicity the Utah Symphony wrote, "We are thrilled to have one of America’s most beloved composers join us this season as Composer In Association."
